Believing In Me

"I first met Dr Nick Webborn 8 years ago, when I was still chronically injured. This was a legacy from the 80's when as an international athlete, I had trained hard and ignored pain and carried on running even when I couldn't!

I told him that I was setting out on a journey and that I intended to find the route to a place called ‘Graceful and flowing running - free of pain and restriction'. I asked for his help in finding my way there.

The picture is of me in the last few hundred metres of the Nice to Cannes Marathon - November 8th 2009. I am 50 years old now and despite the obvious effort of having run for 26 miles I think the picture tells the story - graceful and flowing is there, as is free of pain or restriction.

Thank you Nick for believing in me and supporting me every step of this journey and for genuinely caring that I found my way to where I had said I really wanted to go."

Amazing

21.12.2008 – “I had to email to tell you this – it is amazing! I ran for 1hr 40. Following the run I had no swelling and creaking in the Achilles. It normally creaks all the time and swells after running. That cream, I think, is incredible. Thanks again.” CS

Thank You

Fundraising challenge - 'The Angel Ride'

On 29th May a team of four riders,  including Sportswise patient Nick Miles, will set off from London on Pashley Guv'nor vintage style three-speed bikes, to cycle to Morzine in France - a 1100 Km (700 mile) journey they hope to complete in eight days.  The Angel Ride team is raising money for the Lavender Trust, which benefits young women diagnosed with breast cancer.  The four will be pedalling in the memory of Heidi Beer, who lost her life to breast cancer at the age of 29.

The challenge will be reminiscent of an old Tour de France, travelling down roads and over mountains made famous by the race.  Their last stage is a 189km high mountain challenge, following the route of stage eight of this years Tour de France.  The team will have long days in the saddle, carrying a small pack of essential spares to keep them going over the hundreds of kilometres.  Without vehicle back-up they will have to rely on help from local tradesmen and villagers if they need to repair their bicycles, their kit, or themselves.
