Believing In Me

"I first met Dr Nick Webborn 8 years ago, when I was still chronically injured. This was a legacy from the 80's when as an international athlete, I had trained hard and ignored pain and carried on running even when I couldn't!

I told him that I was setting out on a journey and that I intended to find the route to a place called ‘Graceful and flowing running - free of pain and restriction'. I asked for his help in finding my way there.

The picture is of me in the last few hundred metres of the Nice to Cannes Marathon - November 8th 2009. I am 50 years old now and despite the obvious effort of having run for 26 miles I think the picture tells the story - graceful and flowing is there, as is free of pain or restriction.

Thank you Nick for believing in me and supporting me every step of this journey and for genuinely caring that I found my way to where I had said I really wanted to go."

Amazing

21.12.2008 – “I had to email to tell you this – it is amazing! I ran for 1hr 40. Following the run I had no swelling and creaking in the Achilles. It normally creaks all the time and swells after running. That cream, I think, is incredible. Thanks again.” CS

Thank You

David Lloyd clinic closure

After careful consideration we have decided to close the Sportswise clinic facility at the David Lloyd Club.  The last operating day will be on  31st January 2012.  A variety of issues have led to this decision and include excessive voice from adjacent exercise rooms and lack of promotion of the facility by the David Lloyd Club.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our clients but can reassure you that all therapist sessions at the David Lloyd site will transfer to our main site at the University of Brighton in Carlisle Road, Eastbourne.  Consequently there will be no reduction in overall service. This applies to physiotherapy and sports massage.  We look forward to continuing to provide care for your musculoskeletal problems and wish all our clients a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Chef de Mission seminar for 2012

Nick attended the Chef de Mission seminar for 2012. This was a chance for team leaders from national Paralympic committees to receive an update from all departments at LOCOG and ensure that they have the latest information about London 2012 so that their teams are well prepared for the Games next year.

During their three-day visit, the Chefs attended meetings on a wide range of topics, including ticketing, accommodation, accreditation and ceremonies. They also visited the Olympic Park and Olympic Village.

The Chef de Mission seminar is a milestone for any organising committee as it articulates the service levels that will be provided to the NPC, its athletes and its team officials. This was the final Chef de Mission seminar before the start of the London 2012 Games.

Nick presented a paper at the International Olympic Committe's World congress sports injury prevention conference at the beginning of April. The lecture is titled: 'A lifetime sports injury prevention model'.
