Lucy-Ann Prideaux is a registered Nutritionist, having graduated with an MSc degree in Human Nutrition from Aberdeen University in 1997. Since that time she has built a successful private practice in Sussex, helping many people achieve optimal health & body shape through correct diet and exercise. She has worked as a nutrition consultant for a leading health supplement company, giving help and advice to customers about the safety and benefit of health supplements. As a past competitive triathlete, and with a first class Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Science, Lucy-Ann is an experienced authority on health and fitness training, and past aerobics and step instructor. She is also a freelance writer, and health correspondent for a Sussex lifestyle magazine.
Lucy-Ann works with a wide range of clients in the Home Counties, from sportsmen and women to members of the public who want to be healthier, need nutritional support, want to lose weight, or who are taking up exercise for the first time. She is resident Clinical and Sports Nutritionist at Sportswise (The Sussex Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine), working amongst a team of highly qualified physiotherapists and sports scientists. The team is led by Dr Nick Webborn, Medical Advisor to the National Sports Medicine Institute.
She also has a busy "home" clinic, as well as helping individuals via post, telephone and e-mail.
All Lucy-Ann's clients are personal recommendations, or referrals from doctors, physiotherapists, acupuncturists, or other health professionals.
In October 2001 Lucy-Ann was appointed as a specialist in Nutrition, joining the Human Sports Science and Medicine Support team, now established within the British Equestrian Federation. Since that time, she has worked closely with members of the British Dressage team, as well as the British Paralympic riders on the World Class Performance Programmes. She was also involved with the Start and Potential squads, attending various squad sessions giving "group" lectures, as well as one-to-one support to these younger riders.
As part of the Human SSMS team (consisting of Performance Director, Medical Doctor, Physiotherapists, Sports psychologist, Physiologist, and Nutritionist) she assessed individual riders at training squad sessions and weekends, giving necessary follow-up support and education, attending shows, seminars and management meetings, and liaising closely with all members of the support team.
Lucy-Ann also lectures in Nutrition at Sussex Downs College, in Lewes, Sussex.
