Dr Polly Baker

Polly is a Sport and Exercise Medicine Consultant. She originally trained in Emergency Medicine before specialising in Sport and Exercise Medicine in 2008 and gaining her diploma of Sport and Exercise Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2010.

She currently works both at Sportswise in the clinical team and as a research fellow at the Centre for Sport and Exercise Science and Medicine (SESAME) at the University of Brighton and at Headley Court, Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre.

Her previous sports medicine experience includes time with Chelsea and Arsenal Football Clubs. In addition, she was the Lead Physician for Northampton Saints for the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons and saw them win the premiership title at Twickenham. Furthermore she worked at the London Olympics as part of Team GB looking after Great Britain Handball.

Polly is skilled in diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound guided procedures having obtained her PG Certificate from the University of Bournemouth in Medical Ultrasound. As part of this interest she is involved in a trial to test the efficacy of high volume injections for Achilles and patella tendinopathies. Polly enjoys the challenge of chronic pain management, in particular the multidisciplinary approach to empowering and enabling the patient.
