Physio Luke Carter is once again running the coastal marathons this year so we asked him for a progress report:
“On Saturday I completed the Sussex leg, the fourth so far, of the 2014/15 Endurancelife Coastal Trail series. The challenge is to complete seven marathons in seven months. I first completed the series in 2012/13 but my 2013/14 series ended prematurely with injury. That was a time of reflection for me and led to a different approach to how I have trained and maintained myself for a marathon a month.
The major difference is that my training volume has decreased in terms of the frequency of training runs and mileage. However, despite this, I feel so much fitter. I seem to recover more quickly and my times are improving dramatically as well! There is no better motivation to both train and REST, than being able to run in some of the most beautiful parts of the UK. Now on to Exmoor, Pembrokeshire and the May finale in Flete (Devon)!”
