The Amess family are regular patients at Sportswise and this summer we have been keeping the family in top condition for their three challenging walking marathons. Martyn, Su and Rebecca started back in June with the South Coast Mighty Hike from Brighton to Eastbourne along the South Downs Way. They followed this in July with the Thames Path from Windsor to Henley, and finally their last ‘Rob Roy’ challenge is at the end of the month, heading north from Loch Lomond.

The family chose to do something for Macmillan Cancer Support as they were a great help to Martyn and the family a few years ago. Martyn said about the walks ” Macmillan organise a fantastic event. With regular food stops, plenty of first aid cover (because you can never have enough blister plasters) and bubbles at the end!. We have already raised £1500 for Macmillan and will reach our target of £2000 by the end of the month. Across the three hikes alone, everyone taking part will help raise nearly £2 million for a fantastic charity.”

Rebecca, Martyn and Su are pictured below at the end of their first South Coast hike after 12 hours gruelling walking on one of the hottest days of the year – smiles etched on!
