Knee pain

Although we have been offering high viscosity physiological lubricant injections (Hyaluronic Acid) for arthritic joints for some time, we are now able to offer an enhanced version of this treatment.  The new treatment combines the pain and mobility improvements of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) with the stimulation properties of the growth factors in Autologous Platelet Rich Plasma (A-PRP).

While the HA restores the viscoelastic properties of the synovial fluid in the osteoarthritic joints, A-PRP stimulates the surrounding cells. With the new treatment a sample of blood is taken from the patient’s arm into a tube containing the HA. This is then spun in a centrifuge to separate off the red blood cells leaving the HA-PRP mixture which is extracted and injected into the joint. One to three injections are given at one month intervals. Please ask us if you would like further information.
