We are excited to announce that we are now able to offer the new ‘Shockwave’ treatment at the clinic. Therapeutic shockwave treatment is used to treat a variety of problems including achilles’ issues, Plantar Fascitis, Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (more commonly referred to as ‘shin splints’), and tennis or golfer’s elbow. Our state of the art machine has individualised programmes to treat each condition.
Therapeutic shockwaves were introduced over twenty years ago as a medical treatment for eliminating kidney stones without causing skin injury. Some of the beneficial side effects on areas submitted to shockwave treatment were found to be bone healing and accelerated tissue healing. Today the use of radial shockwaves or Radial Pressures Waves (RPW) has been successfully extended to other therapeutic and wellness applications. Radial Pressure Waves is an excellent non-invasive treatment method with very few negative side effects, for indications that are normally very difficult to treat. For these indications we now know that RPW is a treatment that reduces pain as well as improves function and quality of life and can be an alternative to, or adjunct to, injection treatments.
It can also be used to treat:
- muscle trigger points
- tight muscle and connective tissue bands
- for cellulite treatment and body shaping
- lymphatic drainage
- medical massage
Normally at least 3 treatment sessions at weekly intervals are required. Contact us for further details.
